If you are having a destination wedding, it is a bit harder. If you are able to visit a couple of times while you are in the planning process, you should definitely plan on a day when you can have your hair done and makeup done. No surprises on your wedding day.
If you are unable to actually have your run-through and are having a destination wedding, by all means, get recommendations. Hopefully if you are having a destination wedding, you are working with a coordinator and she or he can guide you. Up dos are in and wonderful for beach weddings. The nice thing about the stylists and makeup artists today is, that they will come to you. Many of them that I work with are completely portable so you can have you and your wedding party can have your hair and makeup done close to where the ceremony will be. No traveling and it is done close to the time pictures will start to be taken.
