Create an Under the Sea Wedding Theme

An Under the sea wedding theme with sea creatures such as; mermaids and mermen, sea lions, seahorses can create a mythical feel to your beach theme wedding.

  • Go with the colors of the water; deep blues, aqua and sea green.
  • Incorporate coral, fish and seashells into decorations for your under the sea wedding
  • Color "up" spots in corner of the room, reflecting shapes of either, fish, seahorses, mermaids
  • Create a revolving light with a stencil with cutouts like in the movie "Mermaid" with Cher. This could be lit behind the band, DJ, cake table or head table.
  • Serve cold seafood in a sea shell ice sculpture
  • Use flowing fluid type fabrics for decoration on your key tables; cake table, head table, registration table, food tables
  • Blue and aqua mylar streamers hung as a curtain behind an area to be highlighted - it will create movement. Light it for a really special effect.
  • Use white linen that is usually standard for most caterers and decorate it with an aqua runner. You could even use themed printed fabric, if you are handy with a sewing machine or know someone who is, you can make your own table runners, fabric stores are always running specials - keep your eyes open

  • Centerpieces for your guests tables; use square mirrors (purchased by the dozen at a hardware store), sometimes the caterer or florist will purchase them from you after the wedding. Place a large glass container filled with water and fish. Add a floating candle and pillar candles or votive candles around the base for a inexpensive but beautiful centerpiece.
  • If your reception is on the beach, a sand sculpture in the form of mermaids or King Neptune would be awesome to be married by
  • If you are near a pool, how about a "real" mermaid swimming around in the pool? I have done that for an event and it is great entertainment for the guests!

  • Message in a bottle for wedding invitations
  • Soaps in the shape of mermaids, fish, seahorses for your wedding favors.
  • Starfish, seahorse or mermaid inspired wedding cake
  • Seafood themed dinner buffet

  • Leave under the sea wedding and return to beach wedding themes
