A public beach wedding location - know the upside and downside.

A public beach wedding, seems like a no-brainer. No charge! Well, you will save money, but there are other things to consider and just make certain you are fully aware of what is involved. There will be things that our out of your control. Flexibility is the key here. If you are not one of those people to roll with it, consider a more private area to have your beach wedding.

Here are a few things to consider when planning a public beach wedding ;

  • Is there a pavilion or covered patio? - Can I use it for a back-up plan for my beach wedding ceremony? Will there be a cost incurred? Will there be other people close by?
  • How and with who do I arrange or coordinate my ceremony at this location?
  • Usually, you will have to permit with the Parks and Recreation Department in that city

  • Can I have a tent on the beach? - If the answer is yes, you will need to make there is someone there when the tent arrives for set up, just to make certain it is put in the correct spot. You will be ultimately responsible for the tent or any other rentals dropped off for your wedding ceremony. When you have your ceremony in an open area, anything can happen. You do not want items disappearing.
  • A public beach wedding and tents

  • Noise level when you are planning a public beach wedding - When you have a wedding ceremony at a public waterside area, especially if it is a busy one, you have no control over noise beyond the natural elements that you already expect.
  • People activity - Children on the beach are a good example. As a wedding coordinator, I once had a child (and this was at a private resort) walk right up to the ceremony and start playing in the sand directly behind the officiant. The worse part of it was that the mother was standing close-by and watching! This is a good argument for having a wedding coordinator that will handle this type of situation.

  • I think having your wedding ceremony on a public beach is a great option if you are have an informal affair. It is a hard venue for a beach ceremony unless you have lots of outside help or you are going to go to the expense of hiring a wedding planner or outside professionals that know the area to handle the details that can and will come up.
