My favorite beach wedding trends

New beach wedding trends, I am always on the look out for something fun and exciting.

HERE IS MY LIST OF FAVORITE BEACH WEDDING TRENDS:

FOR WEDDING TRENDS PRIOR TO THE CEREMONY:

  • Choosing dresses for your attendants: - Instead of choosing one style of dress for your attendants, choose a color and a length of dress and a basic style (formal/informal) you want the girls to wear. Allow the girls to choose styles that will flatter their figures best. And remember, a beach theme wedding gives you the option of being less formal. How about tropical floral print sun dresses for the attendants? They can be assorted florals - maybe ask them to stick with a certain color scheme. They will surely wear the dresses after the wedding
  • Choosing attire for the men If you are not into formal, consider Hawaiian Shirts for the men. They can be prints or solids. If it is really casual, khaki shorts or slacks. A nice look is linen for beach. They could go with white linen or khaki. For you groom - he can always look a bit different by adding a jacket - these are generally clothing items your attendants will have use for after the wedding.

  • Choice of color - This is especially important for beach wedding ideas. Color is so important on the beach. Brides are choosing gowns with a hint of color. For a beach wedding there is a tendency to go slightly less formal and a hint of color is appropriate and welcomed on the beach. You can go soft and pastel or bold and daring. But think simple and elegant lines for your dress. Heavy fabrics and beading will be warm and heavy. If you are going full-length, make it an 1-1 1/2" shorter because of the sand.
  • Starting a webpage This is one of the best beach wedding ideas if you are planning a destination wedding. Your friends and family can keep up with beach wedding trends and your beach wedding ideas as you update.
  • Consider purchasing wedding insurance Important when you are planning a destination wedding or a wedding on the beach. Many companies now offer these policies and will cover costs if there should be a threat of inclement weather such as a hurricane.
  • Wearing beautiful foot jewelry instead of wearing decorated sandals or flip-flops. It is like being barefoot only better!

BEACH WEDDING IDEAS FOR YOUR CEREMONY:

  • Wedding in the round - This is a great wedding idea and keeps your guests close, it also helps tremendously when you are having a larger wedding
  • Decorate an arch - If you are using an arch, have your florist decorate with a mixture of greens and have them incorporate seashells into the greenery. Looks awesome and not as expensive as tropical flowers
  • Create an arch to stand under with large palm fronds. This can be done along the aisle as well for an effective beach wedding idea. It creates an awesome look and is not expensive.
  • Remember to speak to your florist about reusing the flowers from your beach ceremony at your reception
  • See my ideas about reusing flowers

  • Different ways of walking down the aisle Brides are being escorted down the aisle by both parents, walking solo or meeting their grooms halfway as a beach wedding trend
  • Line the isle with seashells for a themed beach wedding idea
  • As another wedding trend, try facing your guests during your wedding ceremony - Couples are choosing to face their guests, what a beautiful backdrop with the water and beach in picture.
  • The photo-journalistic approach to pictures This is a current trend and many couples are including at least some black and whites with a hint of color, this is reminiscent of the early 1900's style of photography. I have some of these pictures scattered throughout this website.
  • Sentimental trend - Add some extra stems of a special flower to your bouquet and as you walk back down the aisle, offer a flower to your mother and your groom's mother.
  • Sand Ceremony - This is a perfect way to unite at the beach. Unity candles are difficult, if not impossible to use outside. The blending of the sand is very appropriate for a beach wedding ceremony. Find a beautiful bottle that you can keep on display in your home. Or I really like a giant conch shell and two smaller ones to use to pour the sand into the larger shell.
  • Hang seashells tied in a cluster on the arms of the chairs closest to the aisle. This is an inexpensive beach wedding idea and looks great in pictures. You can also use a combination of flowers and greens for a tropical look.
  • Set your ceremony up in a chevron style or semi-circle. I love this beach wedding trend. The guests are closer to you this way and can hear better and most importantly, when you are walking up the aisle, they need only turn sideways and get a longer look at the wedding party as they walk up the aisle.

  • FOR TRENDS AT YOUR BEACH WEDDING RECEPTION

  • Theme your reception Beyond the obvious beach theme, consider adding an "ethnic style" to your wedding reception. This is a top wedding trend and a very popular way of blending couples' ethnic backgrounds. Any ethnic theme would blend beautifully with your beach wedding theme..

Use a theme that relates to the beach or waterside. Seashells, mermaids, sailboats, sea creatures, dolphins, sandcastles - by starting with a theme, you will be surprised at how easy it will be to personalize your wedding celebration.

  • Opt for Food Stations as a top beach wedding trend - Many couples are leaning towards food station set ups for their wedding receptions rather than classic buffets or formal served meals. It lends itself towards a more "friendly" atmosphere. Guests are up moving around and interacting. "Finger foods" or "Fork friendly foods" lend themselves well to this scenerio.
  • Receiving lines are out as a beach wedding trend - They take too much time. Couples are choosing to "float" around the room or go table to table to greet and thank their guests.
  • Long head tables are becoming a thing of the past - Couples are choosing an intimate "table for two" or "sweetheart" table and then seating their wedding party and family's around them. That way your attendant's spouse or significant other is able to sit with them and they are much happier!
  • Print and personalize your menus as a creative beach wedding trend - You can either print personalized menus for each of your guests and place them on each place setting or print a couple of pretty menus on beach themed type paper, frame them in creative seashell frames and locate in strategic places such as, the place card table, guest sign in table, or on the bars. Guests love to see what they will be eating.
  • How about square tables for a different look and feel? You can find square tables at more rental companies now. It is a great look, still perfect for conversation.
  • For a really casual look - Picnic tables - I also love the idea of colorful beach blankets and picnic baskets for a fun "Beach Blanket" themed wedding - there is a lot your can do with this theme
  • Speaking of tables - Long banquet style tables set up in rows is a new look. Or, if you are having a small crowd, U-shape is great - everyone can see each other
