Beach wedding flowers

How to Choose a Florist for the beach........

Beach wedding flowers can be a significant expense. You should plan on getting at least two quotes from different florists. Use recommendations from other vendors, bridal associations, other brides who have had first hand experience,and/or wedding planners or event coordinators at a destination where you are planning to have your wedding. Hopefully, they will have pictures of past beach weddings that they have done. Sometimes speaking with other brides who have used their services can be helpful.

Flowers add an important quality and beauty to your wedding because they will show up in all your pictures. If you are planning a destination wedding, remember that your guests will not be able to take the beach wedding centerpieces home with them. My advise to you would be to make sure you try to utilize some of the beach wedding flowers, if not all of them for your beach wedding ceremony and your reception, whether it is on the beach or at another location. You can, depending on your contract with the florist, arrange for them to relocate your flowers to the reception site. Otherwise, you can ask a family member or friend. If you are planning a weekend celebration, the flowers can be re-worked and re-used for various events. For instance, the flowers that are on your beach trellis, the ones located on the corners, can be taken down and used either as a centerpiece on your head table or decoration for your wedding buffet. Flowers that are in pedestals at your beach wedding ceremony can be lifted off and used as a beach wedding centerpiece on your guest tables.

The beach wedding bouquets that your bridesmaids are carrying can be used as decoration at your wedding reception by special holder your wedding florist can supply.

The centerpieces at your wedding rehearsal dinner can surely be re-used for your cocktail hour at the reception or used as decoration on the wedding buffet.

Florists have tons of ideas to re-use beach wedding bouquets and beach wedding flowers, but sometimes you need to ask because they would rather sell you new flowers for each event. And to be perfectly honest, with everyone thinking "green" these days, re-using is the best choice.

Ask about potted tropical foliage, plants, trees, these are great for a beach theme wedding and can be planted somewhere after the wedding. Donate them to a local nursing home or hospital if you are not from around the area. Send them home with guests if you are.

Do your homework and the following is a wedding flower checklist for you when you go to see the florist to plan your beach wedding flowers:

  • Location of your beach ceremony
  • Location of your beach wedding reception
  • The approximate number of guests attending
  • How many bridesmaids you will have
  • Your color scheme for the wedding
  • The number of corsages and boutonnieres you will need
  • The number of centerpieces for the reception and rehearsal dinner
  • What type of ceremony set up you are envisioning for your beach wedding

  • I love the use of tropical greens for decoration at a beach theme wedding. They are not as expensive as flowers and they are neutral.

Add a few tropical flowers here and there for color and voila! You have an fabulous tropical feel to your ceremony or reception.

The following are questions to ask when you are interviewing florists:

  • What is your specialty, and your design style?
  • Have you done flowers for beach weddings?
  • Do you have a photo album of pictures that I can see?
  • How many weddings do you book for one day?
  • Will you be setting up my wedding or will someone else?
  • What flowers are in season?

  • What flowers will stand up best at my beach wedding?
  • How can I maximize my budget?
  • How long will it take to set up?
  • How much is the delivery charge?
  • If my reception is at a separate location from my ceremony, will you transport the beach wedding flowers from the ceremony to the reception and what will be the cost?
  • Do you also provide rental supplies such as; an archway or trellis, urns, vases, candelabras and potted plants such as palms?
  • Can I have an itemized written quote?

  • This is what you can expect to pay for your wedding flowers
