Beach wedding advice, learn from a beach wedding planner

Obtain beach wedding advice from a pro and then plan it yourself! The process for planning a beach wedding is not really that much different than a wedding anywhere else. Obviously, when you are planning an outside wedding event you have unknowns and that is what you have to keep in in mind. Always expect the unexpected.

Most brides start off thinking that planning their own beach wedding will be fun. It is fun, but it is also a lot of work. If you have time it can be most rewarding. As long as you are a detailed person, and I stress detailed, because you cannot afford to skip a beat!

Here is a list of beach wedding advice I have for you if you are planning to do-it-yourself;

  • Establish your budget - This is always number one but particularly so with planning a beach wedding or destination wedding because there are costs you would not normally incur and you will need to allocate money for different reasons.

  • Collect pictures and articles from magazines - Do this from the minute you get engaged, if not sooner! Cut out anything that appeals to you. Don't limit it to just bridal magazines, especially since you are planning a beach theme wedding. Travel magazines and home decor magazines will help you with decoration ideas. Even food magazines for food ideas.

  • Number of guests - This will help you determine your wedding location. If you have a small intimate wedding, your beach wedding at a destination location is probably more realistic. A large wedding that includes distant relatives, friends and co-workers will not be as well attended for obvious reasons. If you have your heart set on a large attendance, it may not be feasible for some guests to attend because of time away from work, cost, children, etc.

  • Location - Another specific piece of beach wedding advice is that you find a location before establishing your specific wedding date because whatever venue you have your heart set on may not be available on the date you have selected for your wedding. My beach wedding advice to you would be to be flexible.

  • Timing - As true with planning any kind of wedding, the date, the time of year, day of week and even time of day will influence the cost factor of your wedding. I know for a fact that you can have a beautiful beach wedding at a moderate size destination location for the same amount of money that you would spend in a big city prime date, prime location and prime day of week. You would even be able to fly your guests down and pay for accommodations! What a great option and great piece of beach wedding advice!

  • Secure the date with the location as soon as possible - You will then be able to send out save the date cards, which with a beach wedding celebration is very important. This gives your guests time to plan time away from work, a vacation schedule, and travel plans.

  • Shop for your dress - Finding the perfect wedding attire for a beach theme wedding may prove to be a bit more challenging than a traditional gown. You will first want to decide if you are going formal or informal. Keep in mind - a traditional gown may be the absolute perfect choice for you. What ever you will feel comfortable in the day of the wedding is up to you. Shoes are usually more of an issue!
  • Invitations - Your save the date cards and your invitations for your beach wedding will give your guests a first glimpse of the style and theme of the wedding and set the tone for the whole wedding celebration. Start the theme here and carry it through to the wedding itself.

  • Secure your vendors - Once the date and location is established start securing your outside vendors. Your florist, musician or DJ, officiant, videographer, limousine service, cake baker. Details can be handled later, but committing them to your wedding is the first step.

  • The wedding cake - Personalizing your wedding cake to reflect your beach wedding theme will be so much fun. Flavors, designs for your cake and themed cake toppers will add the perfect touch.

  • Wedding decor - Whether you beach theme wedding is on the beach or not, decorating for the wedding can be inexpensive if you want it to be. On the beach, there is tons of atmosphere, my beach wedding advice to you would be; keep it simple. The sky, the water, the sand, the smells and even the sounds create a beautiful atmosphere. You just need to enhance what is already there. If you are planning to make anything yourself, this is the time to start.

  • Party favors - Along those same lines, if you are going to make your own wedding favors, get busy now.

  • Hotel accommodations - If it is a destination wedding, you will have already made those arrangements. Whether it is a destination wedding or a beach wedding near your home you will want to send out hotel/lodging recommendations to your guests on the save the date card you are sending out. Good beach wedding advice is to give people choices. Remember, not everyone has the same financial situation and you would not want to have guests not attend because they could not afford the accommodations you have recommended.
