Home-based on the beautiful west coast of Florida, I have been guiding brides with valuable beach wedding advice and planning unforgettable beach weddings and special events for over 25 years. Known for my down to earth and practical approach, I have an eye for detail and creativity and make planning your beach wedding a fun and unforgettable experience. I started my career as a caterer and cooking instructor in the Northeast when the trend of “Novelle Cuisine” was just beginning. With a business degree, I set off to study culinary arts in New York City and took instruction from greats such as James Beard and Jacques Pepin. I owned a cooking school and catering business, “Joy of Cooking” in Connecticut for many years where I taught basic and advanced cooking techniques and specialized in unique and personalized party planning. In the late 70’s I moved to Florida with my two sons where I found that finding work as a woman in a commercial kitchen was not an easy task. I accepted a position as a food production manager with a large national food service company in an upscale retirement community. I wrote menus, managed the kitchen staff, ordered food and planned special events for the residents. It was not long before I realized that my passion and talent was for party planning. In the early 80’s, I accepted the position of catering manager for Hyatt Corporation where I specialized in all social events and weddings and beach wedding advice. After several years of working for Hyatt Corporation I took the position of Catering Coordinator for The Colony Beach and Tennis Resort, the #1 Tennis Resort in the World on Longboat Key, Florida, At the Colony I was affectionately referred to as the “Queen of Beach Weddings.” I planned over 100 weddings each year, coordinating room accommodations, rehearsal dinners, bridal lunches, wedding ceremonies, entertainment, transportation and after wedding brunches. It was here that I really honed my skills as a beach wedding coordinator and learned all about beach weddings. For the past several years I worked as Director of Special Events at one of the largest and most prestigious catering companies on the west coast of Florida. I specialized in wedding coordination, beach wedding advice and planning special events for private individuals and large corporate clients. 
I started my first website business, Beach Weddings by Donna over four years ago.
The website specializes in beach wedding cake toppers and accessories all made from real seashells, many of which I hand pick on the beaches along the Gulf of Mexico here on the West Coast of Florida. I wanted to offer my brides something out of the ordinary, items that would become keepsakes that could be handed down generation to generation.I have now expanded my web base business into Beautiful Beach Weddings to give brides first hand, reliable beach wedding advice about planning a beach wedding. All of the beach wedding advice I give you is from experiences that I have had planning beautiful beach weddings over the years. I feel as though I know all about beach weddings and want to share that information with as many beach brides as I can! Thank you for taking the time to visit me.
